Marcus Ruiz Evans - Fresno

Founder of Calexit movement, Marcus authored the first book to discuss the idea of CA Independence - "Californians' Next Century 2.0" in 2012. It was covered by renowned columnist Thomas Elias, and that was the first time the idea of CA emerging into nation-hood was discussed in the news - in a serious fashion. 

 

Marcus has been interviewed by multiple newspapers and television stations around the World on this concept. Proud of his mexican heritage, he believes all peoples need to be respected in the socio-political arena so that we can live peaceably together. â€‹

Sue Hirsch - Petaluma
Radio show host and blogger.

With over 20 years of experience in Massage plus counseling, Sue has turned her innate skills for counseling and talking into life coaching and a live streaming radio show 'Independent CA - Healthy CA' Tues & Thurs 10am-11am PST, and now advocates for a more independent CA, because she understands how ALL California Citizens HEALTH would be improved by California achieving her sovereignty from the USA. She is also a proud mother.

John Pomeroy - Oakland

Grassroots networking and outreach

After serving in the United States Navy, John put himself through college and grad school in the service industry. After receiving his master’s in education from UC Santa Cruz, he taught middle school and high school CORE curriculum (history/English) before burning out and seeking a change. He decided to return to service, and in seeking his niche, settled into urban agriculture and food justice. He found that growing one’s own food is the most revolutionary act one can make, and in so doing, found himself deeply immersed in the justice world. Today, he consults for bars, restaurants and F & B companies who want to curate more sustainable systems.

Mark Godges - Santa Barbara

Mark is a Junior at the University of California, at Davis, studying Chinese and Human Rights. He is interested in international relations, writing, and planting as many trees on earth as possible. His favorite quote is "The ones who are crazy enough to think they can change the world, are the ones who do", by Steve Jobs.

Charles Reith, Florida

PhD, Reith Energy and Environmental Development.

 

Charles C. Reith advises the team on environmental policy and technology, including sustainable energy and climate stewardship. Since graduating in 1977 from the University of California Santa Barbara, Dr. Reith has pursued a long career of environmental leadership, much of which was as an employee of a Pasadena-based Fortune 500 engineering firm. His projects in CA included restoring environmental
quality at Air Force Bases in the Central Valley and High Desert, and developing a sustainable energy plan for a gold mine near the Imperial Valley. Charles has also performed extensive international work, advising Ministries and corporations in Latin America, Africa, and the Middle East on the development and enforcement of environmental policies and practices that are protective and just, but that provide a

framework for economically viable resource utilization. In the course of his corporate and consulting work, Charles has also served as a Professor and Administrator at three major universities, and has received grants from the US Department of Interior, the Environmental Protection Agency, the United Nations High Commission on Refugees, and the Office of Technology Assessment of the US Congress. His environmental justice work for NM District 2 Congressman Manual Lujan (later Secretary of Interior) was recognized by the Theodore Roosevelt Conservation Award, which was presented to Charles in 1990 by President George H W Bush.

Clare Hedin - Bay Area

A pending member of UN Harmony with Nature experts panel, Clare believes in humanity's potential to live together respectfully and compassionately.  With an MA in Consciousness Studies, Clare is currently researching for her book 'Dynamic Emergence' - exploring our relationship to creativity as part of the evolutionary process. She is committed to better understanding and sharing that research to inspire positive social change. She teaches at a SF University and works with individuals and organizations. As a musician and a student of NVC - she has learned how truly listening is what will change how we move into the future. Her passion is the environment and protecting all that lives that does not have 'a voice'.  She has been working on Intiatives supporting the Environment and Civil Rights for the last year, expanding her view from CA to USA - and sees a 'whole world picture' where people share social capital and reframe the idea of

resources & economic entitlement to support a peaceful co-existence. She believes in the power of community to create new futures that serve the wholistic ecological systems of life, based on inclusivity.

She continues to work with positive social change through her arts and her work with conscious awareness raising through dialogue and education and group social change trainings.
